Irrbloss - Bloodline

Band: Irrbloss
Album: Bloodline
Year: 2009
Country: Sweden
Genre: Black/Folk Metal

This is the first album of Irrbloss, even though their demos were not that impressive, this is something completely different. The album has a strong, hard and melancholic atmosphere, with only a small touch of the Viking metal, this is clearly a bonus for this band as it does not kill the black metal with too many effects and such, but just hints in the background of the underlying atmosphere.

The production is clean and good, which fits this album well. The songs are not very raw, they are actually quite melodic, but as with the atmospheric part, they manage to create the melody as something lying under the surface, not using cheap tricks like synth and such.
The vocals in Irrbloss is close to what I would call perfect, a raw vocal, that still manage to sing good. All the instruments are good, and work well together, I could not think of any faults here.

I will recommend this album, as it will probably fit all of you visiting my blog. It is a good production, not raw, but still very far from Finnish pop folk metal. I must say I am positively surprised when it comes to the first full Irrbloss release.
